FAQ

Frequently asked questions about Smart Recipes

What is "Recipe Structured Data (JSON-LD)"?

Structured data refers to a standardized format for providing information about a webpage's content to search engines in a way that they can understand. Google search supports structured data markup in various formats, with JSON-LD (JavaScript Object Notation for Linked Data) being the recommended format. Each Smart Recipe automatically contains structured data markup in the HTML code. When Google reads this recipe structured data, it displays a "Rich Result" (formerly known as a "rich card" or "rich snippet"), an enhanced result in Google Search with extra visual or interactive features such as images, star ratings, reviews, pricing information, event details, and more.

How does the Recipe Assistant work?

The Recipe Assistant is a tool to help you author recipes quickly. Given a short sentence or phrase that specifies a topic or theme, it generates text and images that are used to autopopulate the recipe.

What is a Smart Recipes tag?

When a Smart Recipe is embedded in a Shopify blog post, a Smart Recipes tag (srtag.js) is also inserted into the HTML markup that facilitates communication between Shopify and Smart Recipes to power features like "Add to cart", "Recipe ratings", and others to make managing recipes quick and easy.
